Today is International Women’s Day, a special day that aims to promote gender equality and celebrate the incredible achievements of women all over the world. This year’s theme is “Inspire Inclusion”, which highlights the importance of creating a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. It’s crucial to drive inclusivity to ensure everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of gender.
At TCC, our colleagues have shared their thoughts on what this day means to them.
Courtney Atherton – Customer Service Representative
International Women’s Day has always been a day I have been proud of, a day to bring everyone together and commend women! Celebrating this in the workplace has proven to create an inclusive environment with celebration and recognition for all genders, all of the time!
Chelsea Carroll – Contact Centre Manager
Celebrating International Women’s Day is important to me because, throughout history, women have shaped the human experience and transformed our world culturally, socially and politically. International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate those achievements.
My personal favourite quotation is: “There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise.” – W. E. B. Du Bois.
Lisa Smith – Head of Site
The success of every woman should be an inspiration to another. We should raise each other with courage, strength, ability and kindness. I hope the world continues to grow where opportunities are boundless, and women soar to newfound heights, opening doors for all who come with or behind them.
The question should never be “Who is going to let me”; it should always be “Who is going to stop me!” Achieve the dreams the younger you thought were impossible.
Marilyn Katsvairo – Learning & Development Trainer
International Women’s Day has always been a reminder for me of the strides we have made for more equality. There is still so much to do across the world, the UK included. I am reminded to be grateful for the gift of being born to the right parents and the fortune of being raised in this part of the world. In this small safe space of the world where human rights exist and more so are legally recognised for women. This freedom is a privilege and responsibility I hold close to my identity, and I would not be who I am without this sovereignty.
Jo Robinson – Head of HR
This unnamed quote sums up my thoughts on International Women’s Day: “Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them”.
This year’s theme of Inspire Inclusion is what we should all aspire to achieve. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination is one that we have made progress towards, and my hope is that this will be the normality for all future generations of women.
We prioritise equality, benefiting from our skilled and diverse workforce. Our team members bring out the best in each other, propelling TCC towards a bright future.
Lastly, we would like to present a lovely poem written by one of our Senior Team Leaders, Samantha William:
In the tapestry of strength, a celebration we weave,
For women bold, in every role, they fiercely achieve.
With grace and courage, they light up the sky, on this International Women’s Day, let’s amplify.
In unity and pride, let’s honour and say, cheers to women’s power, in every way.
Together let’s work towards a more equal, diverse, and inclusive world!
